teal and cable knit

So, you know you wear your hair the same way all the time when people make a big deal over it being different. Aka me on Friday when I came to class with my hair curled. Little secret for anyone who totally doesn't have time in the morning to curl: curl it the night before and sleep on it. You get a less perfect curl and it actually turns out pretty great. (Plus, I have super thick hair and it takes about an hour, or a little more. And I am not waking up an hour early for that!) Also, I am so obsessed with this sweater dress from Old Navy! Easily dressed up or down, and actually kept me pretty warm!

cashmere and leather

Hand me downs aren't always the best thing. Unless of course, your mom decides she has a cashmere sweater that she doesn't wear anymore and asks if you want it. That's a fantastic hand me down! I paired it with a leather skirt and patterned tights for some fun, and my new favorite jacket from Old Navy. Can you guys tell yet that I love pairing pink and black together?

Do you have any awesome hand me downs?

weekly roundup

one: 22 kids and their big dogs. Ohhhhh the cuteness.

two: So if you don't already know, there's a Starbucks secret menu (which actually isn't created at all by Starbucks and probably makes baristas everywhere hate you). Buuuuut, this list of drinks is just too fun. Plus, it gives you the actual makeup of the drink, so you can just ask for that instead of using the name which probably isn't known by most of the baristas. (I can't wait to try the Candy Cane Frapp!)

three: 50 people (young and old) are asked what one thing they would change about their bodies. The difference between the kids responses and the adults responses is amazing.

four: The 31 most pointless things. Get ready to laugh, and cringe if you're Type A like me.

five: And let's end with a video of a baby flexing with his dad. It's as adorable as it sounds.

Have a fantabulous weekend!

a quote break

I don't know what it is about this week, but it seems like everyone is super stressed out, including me. Friends in class, my whole clinical group, and blogger friends. Are we just all having a collective bad week? So I thought I'd take a little pinterest quote break today, one of my favorite things to do, and share some of my favorites! Here's to hoping we all have better days.

(this one is my new absolute favorite!)

Hope you have a happy day!

born to stand out

Anyone else love the movie What A Girl Wants? You know, the one with Colin Firth and Amanda Bynes, before she went absolutely crazy. One of my favorite movies. The part I'll always remember is when she's in the canoe with the hot British guy and he asks her, "Why are you trying so hard to fit in, when you were born to stand out?" I just love that quote! I think all of us were born to stand out in our own ways, and I totally love to stand out with my fashion. Which for this post, means mixing bright colors and bold patterns. One of my favorite combos!
Also, how awesome is this pumpkin that my dad carved? I think he could have a career as a pumpkin carver! ;) (also, all photo cred goes to him, as usual when I'm home!)

navy and trench

So, obviously I took these before that big cold front this weekend. Not because I'm wearing a dress. I just would've added some tights and a heavier jacket! ;) I'm definitely that girl who will wear a dress while it's snowing. Anywho, onto the outfit! This is one of my favorite sweater dresses, and the fact that I got it on sale makes it even better. (Shop Old Navy in the spring for winter stuff. You won't regret it.) Add a trench and my go to leopard flats, and I'm set!

Who else braves through the cold weather in their dresses?

stripes on stripes

Happy Monday everyone! (Or not so happy if you haven't had your coffee yet.) Hope everyone had a fab weekend! I went home for my weekend, and had a great time with my parents! Unfortunately, it's back to classes now. I'll just have to do another fun outfit like this one as a pick me up! Can you believe this striped vest was only $30 at TjMaxx? It looks exactly like the J.Crew one!

Have you found any good J.Crew vest look a likes?
