Uncommon Goods

This post is sponsored by Uncommon Goods. All opinions and thoughts are my own, as always!

I've been a fan of Uncommon Goods for a while now. I first found them through Wanelo (anyone still use this like me?) a couple years ago, and fell in love. It's just such a fun collection of different products, where you can find things you would have never thought existed. Plus, behind all the products they are an amazing company. They focus on sustainability, whether that be in the environment (handmade, recycled and organic products) or in their workplace (good wages, health insurance, respect). You can read more about their mission here.

Back to the amazing products. I thought I would be overwhelmed when I got on the website (so many cool items, but where to start?). Thankfully, everything is nicely divided into categories that make it easy to shop. Need some fun baby shower gifts? Just head over here. How about a personalized gift? Right here. In need of amazing groomsman gifts for your upcoming wedding? Yup, there's a place for that too

I've also rounded up some of my favorite products below. I think it's time for a shopping trip....

What do you guys think of Uncommon Goods? Favorite product?

Pink Eyelet Romper

I usually have a REALLY hard time finding rompers that fit me nicely. I have a longer torso, making normal romper length a tight fit for me. But I've discovered that with rompers meant to be baggier, I can size up and have a perfect fit. I originally tried this one on in a small (my normal dress size), and was so disappointed it didn't fit. Thankfully, the sales associate of Nich Boutique (In Collegeville, PA if you live around here!) recommended giving the medium a chance. It fit much better, and I bought it immediately! Definitely happier going into summer with this little trick.

romper: nich boutique (love this one, and this one!) // wedges: Target (similar) // jacket: Lucky Brand // sunglasses: Derek Lam c/o Ditto (use the code DRESSINSPARKLES to get your first month of renting free!)

Anyone else have this problem?

Lemon Loaf

If you like Starbucks' lemon loaf, you are certainly going to love this recipe! My mom and I both love it, so when I stumbled across this copycat recipe, I just knew I had to make it. And it is so darn good! All of these little loaves were gone in a matter of days....okay, maybe in a matter of hours.

Lemon Loaf (recipe from On Sutton Place)

ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 3 eggs at room temp.
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 T. butter softened
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2 t. lemon extract
  • 1/3 c. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • zest of one lemon
  • Glaze
    • 1 c. powdered sugar
    • 2 T. milk
    • 1/2 t. lemon extract
    • juice of 1/4 lemon
directions:
  • Preheat oven to 350. Prepare 9 x 5 loaf pan or 6 mini pans.
  • In a large bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In a medium bowl combine eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla and lemon extracts, and lemon juice with a mixer. Scrape bottom to make sure all is combined.
  • Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients, and blend until smooth, scraping sides and bottom of bowl. Add oil and lemon zest. Mix well.
  • Pour into prepared loaf pan(s) and bake for 45 min. (9 x 5) or 25 min. (minis.) Insert toothpick to test...it must come out clean. Remove from oven and let set 3 minutes.
  • Prepare glaze...whisk to combine. Remove bread from pan(s) onto wire rack. Make sure and put a cookie sheet under the rack. Pour glaze over bread. Cool completely on rack.
Enjoy!

Kate Spade New Arrivals

I am completely obsessed with the Kate Spade new arrivals. Everything is springy/summery, and filled with sunshine and happiness. (Can you tell I'm ready for warmer weather?) I love the collections of wicker bags they've been doing the past couple years, and this year's is no different.

Which piece is your favorite? I think I need the teapot purse in my life!

Pop Of Pink

I have to say, I never used to be someone who wore all black. I always deemed it as "boring", and avoided it. But as I've gotten older (and obviously way cooler), I've kind of fallen in love with everything you can do with a black outfit. Like in today's post, adding a bright pop of pink with my purse made this outfit so much fun! Plus, the all black immediately gives you an air of sophistication and can give a boost of self confidence. So basically, it's the best kind of outfit!

Weekly Roundup

one: Guided meditation with Disney Pixar characters. I think I could actually get into meditation with this regimen ;)

two: 7 unusual uses for lip balm. As a self proclaimed lip balm junky, I adore this post!

three: Who else remembers and loves the Feeny call? This mashup of it never fails to make me crack up!

four: The Rock halted filming of Baywatch so he could visit with sick kids at the hospital they shot some scenes at. I've always thought he was pretty cool, but this makes him amazing in my eyes! I love when people take the time to do things like this.
