I'm not the best print mixer in the world (maybe because I don't have a TON of prints in my closet besides plaid), but I do love to mix softer colors with harder colors. I think it creates a nice contrast, especially on these gloomy days of winter!
one: I saw Into the Woods on Sunday, and LOVED IT. I had watched a video of the stage show on Netflix and knew the show already, but the movie far exceeded my expectations! It was perfectly casted (Chris Pine can SING, Anna is perfection, Meryl is amazing, just everyone was fabulous), and I highly recommend it! (Although know it is a musical going into it. As we left, I heard a girl complain that it would've been better with less music. Sigh.) Here's a little featurette that is surely going to make you want to see it!
two: Dogs vs bath time. Cue the laughter.
three: I've had a mega discovery. There's a site called Nick Reboot where you can watch all the classic 90's Nick shows on a stream. Think Kenan and Kel, Figure it Out, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and everything else happily 90's. I know what I'll be doing in my spare time.
four: Kid's minds are the most magical places in the world. Like this toddler who's trying to teach her dog how to hula hoop. Adorable.
So, I think this is the second time I've worn glasses in an outfit shoot. I have no idea why, because I actually wear my glasses a lot! But I just had to show everyone these adorable glasses from Firmoo. They're actually out of the realm of what I would normally choose, but that's what makes them so fun! (Even if my dad said they kind if make me look like Scheana from Vanderpump. HA!) Plus, they're incredibly affordable ($46, plus free shipping!). Always a win in my book. Add in another incredibly cozy scarf from Oasap, and I was set!
(I was doing so well at not looking cold.....until these goosebumps!)
I love mixing my plaids lately. Especially when I have basics like this top from Old Navy that need a little something. Enter this SUPER warm and soft scarf from Oasap. It was cold and windy when we shot these pictures, and the scarf was keeping me nice and warm! It really does take on the definition of a blanket scarf, in the best way possible.

I'm really not that big of a soup person. I really wish I was, but for some reason it has just never been my favorite thing to eat! However, I'm always down for some chicken noodle soup. So when I saw the recipe for this lemon chicken orzo soup, I knew I had to try it out! The lemon is the perfect touch in the broth!
Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup (recipe slightly adapted from Damn Delicious)
ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into chunks (we used 1 lb and it definitely was not enough!)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced (I just used the kind that is preminced in a jar)
3 carrots, peeled and diced (this and the celery measurements can be done based on preference!)
2 stalks celery, diced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
5 cups chicken stock
2 bay leaves
1 cup uncooked orzo pasta (more or less depending on how much pasta you want!)
1 sprig rosemary
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
directions:
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large stockpot over medium heat. Season chicken chicken with salt and pepper, to taste. Add chicken to the stockpot and cook until golden, about 2-3 minutes; set aside.
Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the stockpot. Stir in garlic, carrots and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in thyme until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Whisk in chicken stock, bay leaves and 1 cup water; bring to a boil. Stir in orzo, rosemary and chicken; reduce heat and simmer until orzo is tender, about 10-12 minutes. Stir in lemon juice and parsley; season with salt and pepper, to taste. (<- you definitely need this, but it can be done individually to each person's taste!)
Are you a soup person? What's your favorite soup?
