apple picking

A couple of weekends ago I went apple picking at this super cute orchard called Solebury Farms. Obviously going into it I had high expectations of fall fabulousness, and picking delicious apples. Happy to say, my expectations were exceeded! I had SO much fun, I got delicious apples, AND even got fresh apple cider donuts (ohmygoshsogood). A comfy sweater, my new FAVORITE jeans, and my trusty Hunter boots ended up being the perfect outfit for the day. And I'm already thinking about going back again...

Tis the time of year for fall activities! What are you going to do?

rain boot rompin'

My obsession with rain boots didn't really start until I got to college. Most likely because I never wore them before then! But in college, they're just beyond necessary. Rain, snow, sleet...they're perfect! Here are some I'm lusting over right now...

Joules Premium Rain Boot: an rain boot with a bow on the back? YES PLEASE!

Hunter Packable Tour Rain Boot: this rain boot can actually be rolled up to pack, which makes it much more lightweight! (plus, I've always wanted yellow rain boots, to look like the Morton salt girl!)

Burberry Check Panel Rain Boots: I mean, who hasn't lusted over a pair of Burberry rain boots?

What are some of your picks for rain boots?

neon green and rain boots

I took a cue from my own post about dressing up rain boots and wore a dress with my boots yesterday. I had a presentation for one of my classes (when will teachers realize that group projects are absolutely terrible?) and even though we didn't have dressing guidelines, I always feel like you should dress nicely when you present (my group members didn't feel the same). Obviously I'm a little bitter about this group project! And it actually ended up not really raining so much (just got really humid), so I ended up ditching the jacket and slipping on sandals after class to run errands!

Does anyone else love pairing dresses with rain boots? I think wet legs are so much better than wet jeans!

how to dress up rain boots

I don’t know about anyone else, but when it’s raining and storming outside, all I want to do is stay in bed with a cup of coffee. However, unless it’s a free weekend, this just isn’t really an option! Gotta get out and brave the weather. (Especially since Mother Nature is taking this April Showers thing very literally this year!) That doesn’t mean you can’t look cute while doing it though. Dressing up a pair of rain boots in simple and easy to do, turning a drab pair of boots into a perfect spring outfit staple.

A spring dress immediately dresses up a pair of rain boots, and adds some brightness to the day! Pair it with a trench coat for colder temperatures and to keep your dress dry!

Pair an oxford or button-up of choice with a pair of cutoffs for a simple and chic look. Add a bow or fun rainboots for a bright pop of color.
top: Ralph Lauren // shorts: delia's (love these) // bow: Always Anchors c/o // boots: Hunter (similar)

And when in doubt, use a bright color and a floral print! It’ll stand out among the greyness of the day.

rainy days

[Make sure you enter the Simply Reese giveaway!]

The April showers cliche has been more than true for the start of April here. It thunderstormed for 24 hours straight yesterday! And looking at the forecast, there's going to be lots more of it. But that is okay with me! I would much rather has rain than snow!

And of course, what is a rainy day without a trench coat?
trench: Target (LOVE this one for spring!) // jacket: American Eagle (similar) // shirt: Victoria's Secret // jeans: Lucky // scarf: J.Crew Factory (similar) // boots: Hunter (similar) // bow: Always Anchors

(Also, my pictures should be getting better after this weekend! I'm going to invest in a [cheap] tripod, mainly in hopes of a super exciting project! I'll share more if it's confirmed ;))

What's your go to rainy day staple?
